Because, it don't have a reason

"Could you stay back a little longer?" She didn't want to plead but...

"It's getting late darlin"

"Oh Okay", she was always easily convinced. Damn!

"I love you", she said, looking lovingly into his amber eyes.

"I love you too"

She just shrug her head and laughed nervously.

"What's wrong?"

"I just... can never believe you when you say you love me"

"Really?"

"I mean, I know you like me. Reaaaally like me. And you definitely care about me. But I'm not sure if you love me." She said.

Her voice was starting to form a lump in her throat. One of the worst feelings in life is realizing the one you have such deep feelings for doesn't share the bitter-sweet pain.

He looked a little crestfallen. Was he doing something wrong? Or worse, could she be right?
His amber eyes were darkening.

"What makes you say that?" A little more clarity would help.

"Honey, people in love are crazy, incoherent. Heck, they are downright stupid! What they do doesn't always make sense but they do it anyway, because they are IN LOVE."

"Oh"

"They don't calculate, or plan, they just do."

There was a brief silence. He knew she hated him leaving. But to equate that with lack of love...

She regained her voice amidst soft sobs, "You know last month when we had a false pregnancy scare, I had almost planned to go through with it. And that plan included not telling you about it."

Wait. What??

"It's not because I love kids or that would be the morally right thing to do, but because I love you and I wanted that part of you with me. And I wouldn't let anyone, including you, take it away.. from... me..."

Her face was red and tears seemed to engrave their path across her flushed cheeks as they flowed. He held her. Dang! This girl is crazy. Thank God.

As her crying became indistinct, he squeezed her tighter. She protested a little to get some air. With one hand he cupped her face to face him, kissed her and said,

"Is it too late to tell you that I switched the reports?"
