Real Talk

The following is an excerpt of a conversation I had recently. I quite like these random discussions that foster freethinking. It is also heartening to see that my friends don't immediately think of me as a sociopath.

Radical revolutionary: Have you ever thought about murder?

Cautious freethinker: Murder...yes remotely

Sub consciously

I think

Who do u want to kill?

Radical revolutionary: No-one yet. I was writing a story..

Do you think everyone goes through this phase?

Cautious freethinker: I think troubled women do think about revenge or murder

Radical revolutionary: Revenge is easy. It is a weak person's vice.

I would think most people would hold some guilt when thinking about murder though

Cautious freethinker: Yes. Guilt prevents people from actually murdering someone

Radical revolutionary: I want to know if someone (not a psychopath) thinks of guilt free murder

Cautious freethinker: May be. In a world where there is no fear of punishment

Anyone will do anything when there is no fear of punishment

Religion instills that fear

Radical revolutionary: Ahhh

Wise words

Religion can be twisted to suit one's needs..

People in power exploit that on a daily basis

Cautious freethinker: Power goes above religion.

I think guilt free murder can be committed by people who know how to get away with it

Radical revolutionary: Sometimes I wonder if people who wrote the bible were ordinary story tellers and because there was no technology to verify their claims.

Some people used it to quiet their children at night. Others used it to quiet voices that rebelled.

Maybe one such year, in a pandemic like this.. They found comfort in stories and held them close to their hearts.

The insanity grew from there.

Cautious freethinker: Yes. It could be true. Gita, Bible, Quran, everything tries to tame the evil human minds

Read about how hippy culture was tamed by Christianity

Radical revolutionary: Really?

Damn.

Cautious freethinker: I read that long time back. Don't remember where

But basically religion has kept humanity sane.

Radical revolutionary: Hmm.. I don't know... I don't trust the institutions formed by humans

Religion is for people who're afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for those who've already been there."  ~ Native American wisdom
