When you walked

You said you didn't want to be better

That I wasn't the one to do it

That the ardour on your part fell short

That I should have loved you less

I was a mess

That you couldn't see

But, it isn't me

I did my best

And left the rest

I did my best knowing

You would falter

I did my best nursing

An impending doom

I did my best

So that I wouldn't blame myself

If I loved you less

You wouldn't have anyone

To nurse you back to health

If I loved you less

You wouldn't have laughed as much

If I loved you less

It wouldn't have made you stay

You would still find flaws

You would still seek the door

I will not implore

To hold you back

I will heal these cracks

I will fly again

But I still wouldn't love any less
